Nylon is the most resilient synthetic fiber out there. It has "fiber memory," meaning when you walk on it, the fibers bounce back instead of matting down. If you have a busy staircase in Oakville or Burlington, Nylon will maintain its look years longer than almost anything else. It's the cost-effective choice for pure durability.

Polyester: Plush and Practical

Polyester has come a long way, but it still doesn't have the "bounce back" of Nylon. In Toronto townhomes where the stairs are used 50 times a day, Polyester might show a "walk-line" sooner. • Polyester: Generally ranges from $2.00 to $6.00 per square foot. Ideal for budget-conscious renovations in Windsor or London.
• Nylon: Ranges from $3.50 to $8.00 per square foot. It’s a higher upfront investment, but in 25 years, I’ve found it’s the wiser long-term choice for GTA families.

Eco-Friendliness: A Greener Ontario
